As i read the various positions taken by the various parties, but few look to the scriptures for understanding and guidance. I find the guidance in Matt 12:25 ESV where Christ says"Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand." I take this to mean that two opposing doctrines/Biblical interpretations in one denomination or church will result in division. It does happen, it will happen, Christ says so. I believe him.
Is not the CRC following the same path of delaying and kicking the can down the road? If Synod 2024 doesn't clearly address what to do with churches and office bearers who don't adhere to a confessional understanding of human sexuality, then it's hard to see how you also will not split apart like this.
My mom's father was raised in what we would now call the United Methodist Church. I have distant relatives who are conservative United Methodists. It's sad to see the denomination split because they refused to root out the theological liberalism within their midst. All but one of the United Methodist churches in my home county in East Texas (I live in a conservative area) have stayed including the church my mom's dad grew up in. I'm sure most, if not all, of the United Methodist churches in my home county in East Texas are wanting to leave, but they are being held hostage. Most East Texas Methodist churches left the United Methodist Church.
Thanks for sharing. I wish there was a way to know how many UMCs would like to leave but cannot for whatever reason. It would be interesting to hear those stories.

Hence the reason for showing the tracks of other denominations. We don't want to repeat the mistakes of others.
