Like the article says any disunity was brought about by individuals, congregations, and classis rejecting clear Biblical teaching on sexuality. Progressives have broken the unity not the Abide Project. The differences are deep and not likely to be reconcilable. I suspect that the differences are not only in regards to a Biblical interpretation of homosexuality, but have to do with scriptural authority as well. True unity is not existing in the same denomination while ignoring core level differences in ideology, it is believing in a fundamental set of principles and working together towards common goals. The CRC has already split and fails to recognize it. Were the progressives making impassioned speeches about wanting to keep the "unity" when 30 percent of the denomination left after women were allowed in office in the 90's?

Yes, let’s cloak disunity and lack of charity in bureaucratic procedure. It’s all legal, after all.
