Synod 2026 Has Started!

Synod, the annual gathering of the Christian Reformed Church has begun. Just as in previous years, the delegates to Synod 2026 gather online to elect officers for the upcoming in-person gathering on the campus of Calvin University.

The Banner has posted a summary video of the evening’s proceedings hosted by current interim and soon-to-be permanent editor, Rev. Lora Copley with Rev. Nate Van Denend as a guest.

The officers elected were:

President: Rev. Chad Steenwyk, pastor of Central Ave CRC in Holland, MI

Vice President: Rev. Derek Buikema, pastor of Orland Park CRC in Chicagoland, IL

First Clerk: Rev. Jose Rayas, pastor of Valley Ridge CRC in Socorro, TX

Second Clerk: Rev. David TenClay, pastor of Bauer CRC in Hudsonville, MI
